Easy Smoothie to try this Ramadan: Green Smoothie

I love my greens, and it can be difficult to get a good intake of them during Ramadan. Chucking them into the blender is an easy way to add more roughage, vitamins and minerals into my Ramadan routine. Besides nourishing the body, a smoothie is easy to make in the early morning with very little prepping needed. All you need is a blender and you’re good to go to make this smoothie on a Ramadan morning!

The key to making a delicious green smoothie is your sweetener. A frozen, overripe banana or two is always a good idea. It is Ramadan afterall, so don’t be afraid to toss in some pitted dates into your blender, the more dates, the sweeter the smoothie. Plus I love the fact that dates have a caramel-like flavour too for a more delicious smoothie! Dates are incredible and they provide you with an insane amount of energy! Dates also contain antioxidants that help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s. Not to mention bone health, brain health and gut health too!

I like to start by choosing some greens and today I have some fresh kale and baby spinach. But you could also add some water-rich vegetables like cucumbers, celery or even green grapes. Just ensure they are washed and rinsed properly. I love Sustenir’s kale and spinach that’s already washed and rinsed so all you need to do is toss ‘em into the blender. No need to take out that salad spinner!

This is an energy-packed drink brimming with great ingredients to help you conquer the day. I’ve also added a scoop of All Things Delicious Ramadan Edition Granola. This granola is only available in the month of Ramadan that’s handmade with wholegrain oats, nuts and seeds and of course, dates!

Top it all up with some iron-rich vegetables and fruits. You can adjust how thick or runny you prefer your smoothie to be by adjusting the amount of milk you blend in. As you can see, I like it thick!
